As supply shortages are expected to continue, we are still offering our customers this alternative solution. They are not a 100% replacement for the many disposable face masks sold by us, but, due to the general fabric properties of ION-NOSTAT VI.2 , these reusable textile washable face masks are conceivable for many cleanroom applications – as a temporary limited solution. Each customer is therefore asked to check on his own responsibility whether this option is suitable and can be used for his requirements.
General technical statements:
- with regard to particle retention capacity, we refer to the technical data sheet of ION-NOSTAT VI.2. Clothing made of ION-NOSTAT VI.2 has been successfully used for over 15 years in cleanrooms of air cleanliness classes ISO 4 and ISO 5 as well as in sterile areas (GMP A-/B-zones).
- values for the bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) of these makeshift masks are currently not available.
- in most cases, the breathing resistance of textile fabric face masks is higher than that of disposable ones made of several layers of non-woven fabrics.
- the wearing times for these makeshift masks are likely to be shorter than for disposable ones (since cleanroom textiles become damp more quickly by human breath).
Like the reusable cleanroom garments, our textile, washable makeshift face masks can be decontaminated and sterilized. Professional reprocessing/decontamination by a cleanroom laundry is recommended (this also applies to newly delivered face masks).
The colours vary between olive green, white and light blue, depending on availability. Delivery dates are determined after receipt of order (the FiFo principle applies).

Important additional note:
For various reasons, these textile makeshift masks cannot be equated with disposable medical face masks (see the BfArM information – www.bfarm.de). They are not tested or certified face masks and are in no case to be regarded as a replacement for filtering half masks (FFP2 / FFP3). Furthermore, they are neither PPE articles nor medical devices.
