The pandemic-related closure was used to realise a new exhibition area
Here, visitors can experience the "journey from sand to microchip." The entrance to the exhibition unit is formed by the staging of a cleanroom complete with air shower. To prevent dirt particles from causing defects on a semi-finished chip, they are manufactured in huge cleanrooms.
With the help of pictures, videos, texts and exhibits, visitors gain important insights into the basics, materials, manufacturing processes and products of microelectronics: from silicon monocrystals and fragile wafer disks to the small chips in finished products.
